About the Australian High Commission in Pakistan

EXPATRIATE LE 4 VISA PROCESSING OFFICER
The Immigration Section of the Australian High Commission Islamabad, Pakistan is currently recruiting for locally engaged Expatriate Visa Processing Officer (VPO) for an order of merit. The order of merit will be used to fill expected vacancies that arise over the next 12 months.
Please note that this position is open to citizens of Australia. Applications by nationals from New Zealand, United Kingdom, Canada and the USA may also be considered. Pakistan dual nationals and those that hold a National Identity Card Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) are not eligible to apply for this position. The successful applicant must hold, or be able to obtain, an Australian government security clearance. Applicants should indicate in their application whether or not they currently hold an Australian clearance.
Please note that all relocation costs are at the expense of the successful candidate, including travel, shipment of personal effects and accommodation. You will also be required to arrange your own travel insurance. Applicants should inform themselves regarding living costs and conditions for expatriates in Pakistan. Australian citizens should make themselves aware of Australian taxation arrangements for Australian citizens working overseas. Applicants must be eligible to obtain a work visa. If necessary, the Australian High Commission may be able to provide a letter to assist in obtaining an appropriate work visa for Pakistan.
Applicants should indicate in their application whether or not they are a resident in Pakistan, and what their availability for commencement of duties would be.
Applications should include the following:
• Two (2) page claims addressing each of the six (6) selection criteria; and
• Short curriculum vitae, including contact details of two recent work referees.

Access to the Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad, where the High Commission is located, has been restricted by the Pakistani Government for security reasons. Access by bus is from the Diplomatic Shuttle Service located on the 3rd Avenue (University Road) from Murree Road (2km from the Convention Centre). An office has been set up at the bus station to sell tickets and direct customers to the bus.
Access to the High Commission on foot or car is either from the Foreign Office gate entrance on Constitution Avenue, or from the Shams gate entrance on Ispahani Road. Access to the High Commission via foot or car is subject to prior entry clearance, obtained from DPD (Diplomatic Protection Department) through the High Commission.
